Link is evolving! We’ll be switching to a new provider called Drop Mobility this spring. When we reopen, our system will still offer the green Link bikes you know and love, plus 100 electric bicycles we’re dubbing, eLink. Our system will become hub based, so instead of stations, your app will unlock the bikes which will be tied to bike racks instead of checking out from a dock. This lower cost infrastructure will allow us to expand the system more easily and avoid hub closures during construction or large events.
During the closure period, our team will be working on several large projects to ensure an awesome new system for you. First, the green Link bikes will be getting a thorough tune up with new chains, tires, etc., to make them like new. We’ll also install a retrofit kit that will allow the green bikes to communicate with the new Link Dayton app that will launch as part of the system. We’ll also be removing the existing Link stations and replacing them with bike racks and signage for the new hubs. Finally, we’ll be upgrading the shop so we can charge the batteries for our new e-bikes!
