What is Link: Dayton Bike Share?

Link: Dayton Bike Share is a hub-based bike sharing system in Dayton, Ohio. Users can purchase one time passes or memberships through the Link Dayton app to access bikes at 37 different locations in the Dayton area. Bikes in this system must be returned and locked to a bike rack in the designated hubs outlined in the app. The system offers a fleet of green bicycles dubbed Green Link and a fleet of electric bicycles (e-bikes), dubbed eLink.

Link: Dayton Bike Share was founded in 2015. The program is operated by Bike Miami Valley and Greater Dayton RTA.

How does it work?

Start by downloading the Link Dayton App and setting up your account. From there you can check out bikes from any of our 37 locations. Bikes must be returned to one of the 37 locations and tethered to one of our bike racks for your trip to end.

How do I use my promo code?

Visit the “Coupons and Credits” section under the menu items when you click “Hi [Your Name]” in the upper left of the app home screen.

How do I return a bike?

Make sure you are at a hub (outlined in grey and shaded in the app). Be sure to lock and tether the bike to the bike rack by wrapping the green cable around the rack and inserting it into the kit of a Green Bike or looping it in the wheel lock of an eLink Bike. Take out your phone and press the “End Trip” button. The app will then ask you to take a photo of the locked bike tethered to the rack. Then you’re good to go! Watch our video series here to see how the bikes are returned.

If you leave the bike untethered multiple times, after the third offense there will be a $2 fee. If you neglect to take a photo at the end of the trip multiple times, on the third offense there will be a $2 fee. If a bike is not returned to a Link Hub multiple times, there will be a $3 fee after the second offense and a $10 fee for any offense thereafter. 6 offenses will result in being banned from the system. If a bike goes missing while checked out to you, you will be banned from the system.

What is an e-bike?

An e-bike is a bicycle with an integrated electric motor. Our e-bikes will assist a user up to 15mph. You must pedal to get a benefit from the motor. The e-bikes have a range of up to 20 miles on a full charge! It's just like riding a bicycle, but with a booster to keep you riding longer and farther.
